R2P is a youth development organization that seeks to foster a safe and supportive community where any interested youth has the opportunity to learn important life skills through theatre. With girls, gender-expansive students, and students of color in most lead roles, we are excited to bring newly envisioned productions of Mean Girls: High School Edition (January 2025), Alice in Wonderland Jr. (April 2025), and Mamma Mia (TBD – July 2025) to our community. Each year, our organization serves 200+ middle & high school girls and gender-expansive students as company members, with participation being 100% FREE.
Since its founding, R2P has prioritized representation and inclusivity, choosing plays that provide substantive roles for girls and women with healthy, modern portrayals of girls and women. The large majority of R2P’s youth participants are middle and high school girls, as is typical in youth theatre. Our casts are diverse and inclusive. Each show features girls and gender-expansive students in most lead roles, including roles historically held by boys – and our shows often feature students of color in many lead roles historically held by white performers. Students are also encouraged to think critically about body positions on stage and reflect on messages being sent through postures and how they conform to or confront gender biases.
