Dryden House for Women

About

The mission of Second Wind is to house and walk with homeless people toward restored lives. We are a not-for-profit organization that provides homes and hope.

Second Wind is committed to completing the building of the Dryden House and offering a housing program to (4) homeless and/or at-risk women and their children.  Different from the cottages, these apartments will house the women and build community by facilitating human connections in the house’s community spaces and in the surrounding community.

The idea for the community room came after careful consideration of space needs, and after listening to  women with lived experience of homelessness and what helped them overcome that life. It is our desire to create a safe space with open doors to welcome the women who live at Dryden House to gather and to invite women from the community to gather with them regularly to provide support, opportunities, learn/unlearn, amplify voices of women, cheer each other on, and to empower them.
