About

Open Doors English provides English as a Second Language classes for adults, serving immigrants, refugees, asylum-seekers, temporary and migrant residents, and others. We offer classes four days per week, morning, afternoon, and evening, at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Our goal is to help students gain English fluency and linguistic confidence so they can participate in community life, advocate for themselves and their families, and pursue their goals.

English classes are a crucial piece in helping people thrive as they establish lives here. Improving English fluency provides a way out of low-pay, entry-level jobs, enables more successful self-advocacy, and opens opportunities for higher education, specialized training, and networking. Additionally, English fluency opens opportunities for social connection, fostering community engagement and a sense of belonging. Women represent 60 – 70 percent of our student body and have done so each year since we opened in 2019. Our ESL services directly impact women in significant ways, and ripple outward into their families and beyond. By coming to classes, women gain valuable social connections and support to pursue their goals and support their families.
