“Exploring the Arc of Women’s Suffrage and its Relevance to Current Issues” was coordinated by the History Center in Tompkins County during 2017. According to Rod Howe, the History Center’s grant allowed it to serve as a catalyst for numerous programs and initiatives related to New York State’s women’s suffrage centennial, including Seneca Falls bus trip, book talks, movie presentations, and panel discussions. The exhibit “Truth is the Only Safe Ground to Stand Upon: Portraits of NY Women Suffragists” was well received. Content was also added to the Living History Program at the Eight Square Schoolhouse as part of Kids Discover the Trail!. In addition, the grant helped set a foundation for continued dialogue heading toward the centennial of the 19th amendment in 2020.
